FAQs

Everything you need to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing float will be provided. Our float rooms are equipped with towels, shampoo and shower gel and our post float facilities include hair dryers and straighteners. Just bring yourself and prepare to thrive.

We recommend floating naked to optimise your sensory deprivation experience by eliminating the sensation of swimwear touching your skin. Each pod is in its own individual room with shower facilities to ensure your privacy during your time at Thrive. However, if you feel more comfortable, you can wear your swimwear during your float.

Absolutely! Our pods are designed to provide an individualised experience and you can choose to float with the lid opened. The experience is entirely your own and it’s important to do what makes you feel most comfortable in order to optimise your floating experience. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or speak to the host before you float.

One of the many benefits of the Epsom salts in our tanks is that they allow you to float effortlessly, meaning even non-swimmers can enjoy a relaxing floatation experience safely.

The water in our pods is cleaned between each float session. The pods are designed so that the water is repeatedly filtered through an ultraviolet sanitiser destroying micro-organisms in the tank. The filtration process is carried out between floats to ensure the tank is fresh for each session.

It is common to fall asleep during a float session due to the intense relaxation experienced. The high concentration of Epsom salts within the water keep you afloat. The only inconvenience to your relaxation would be if you wake yourself up snoring!

Yes, and you may find the session soothing to menstrual cramps or hormonal fluctuations during your cycle. We ask that you use the same precautions you would use in a swimming pool or hot tub during menstruation ie a menstrual cup or tampon. It is recommended that you insert a fresh tampon prior to entering the float tank and change it after your float session.

Absolutely! Floating has many benefits for pregnant people. The buoyancy of the water alleviates the additional strain placed on the pelvis and spine during pregnancy. Alongside the relaxing physical sensations for pregnant people there are hormonal benefits. Floating decreases adrenaline and cortisol which allows oxytocin (the love hormone) to rise in the body which promotes positive brain development for your growing baby.

Floating is a very personal experience, and the benefits are unique to the individual. Some benefits of flotation therapy are felt immediately after just one session with clients emerging from the pods feeling refreshed, relaxed and reset. As with any technique or experience which directly impacts your health, users will experience the greatest benefit when they commit to floating regularly and include it as part of their self-care routine.

Whilst float therapy offers benefits for many conditions and ailments there are a few that are, unfortunately, not suited to floating for a number of reasons. These include hypotension (low blood pressure), chronic kidney conditions, schizophrenia, uncontrolled epilepsy, gastrointestinal upset, and open wounds.

We recommend that if you have any pre-existing health concerns or queries that you consult your own healthcare provider before scheduling your float. Each individual is responsible for assessing their own health prior to engaging in floatation therapy.

If you are wearing instant tan that has not yet been washed off, then you cannot enter the float pods. If you have used self-tan or have a spray tan you must wait 72 hours before floating.

We ask that you wait for 14 days post hair colour before floating. If your hair has been dyed with red hair colouring, we ask that you do not float until your hair runs clear in the shower and the dye is no longer transferring to towels or clothing.

It is recommended that you avoid floating until your tattoo is fully healed.

Our pods are designed for single occupancy, limiting each pod to one floater per session so couples cannot float in the same pod. However, you can book simultaneous floats in our Stillness and Serenity float rooms and meet to hydrate and enjoy your post-float glow in our post-float relaxation room once your sessions are complete.

A float session is typically 60 minutes long and we invite you to take advantage of your relaxed and meditative state in our post-float relaxation room. Some advanced floaters may wish to amend their session times and are welcome to contact us to discuss any queries.

At present, Thrive are welcoming floaters aged 16 and over.

Cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to the start of your float session will be entitled to refund or reschedule. Any cancellations or reschedule requests made within 48 hours of the float session will not be entitled to a refund. Gift vouchers are non-refundable.

The host will try to accommodate for extenuating circumstances where possible, this remains at the hosts discretion.
